How It All Began...

It all started with dirty laundry...

In 1982, Eric and Mary DuBuisson bought Slidell Cleaners from Eric's relatives, Joe and Rhoda Johnson. Slidell Cleaners was and continued to be a very successful business from 1929 until 2005 when Hurricane Katrina delivered a devastating blow in the form of 6 1/2 feet of salt water which destroyed all of the company's equipment. The DuBuissons were faced with a major decision - spend the half a million dollars needed to re-open the dry cleaning business or find a new use for their family owned property. They soon realized that they not only wanted to start a new chapter but they wanted to do something that would benefit the community and give back to the city that had given them and their children, Scot and Marti, so much.

The DuBuissons wanted to fuel the cultural, as well as business, revitalization in Olde Towne Slidell and in the greater City of Slidell. On August 1 of 2009, Slidell's newest art gallery was born. It became a place where artists could sell their work and budding artists could learn techniques in a variety of artistic media, such as charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, photography and sculpting. The response and support from the community was and continues to be wonderful.

Mary and Eric, along with their daughter-in-law Brianne, are excited about this new chapter. So, please come and discover the wonderful world of art at DuBuisson Gallery, located at the corner of Robert and First Streets in Olde Towne Slidell. We think Uncle Joe and Aunt Rhoda would be very proud of what all started with the city's dirty laundry.
